Singapore doesn't honor or recognize the comic contributions of Sonny Liew

Arnold Buckley
Famed comic strip artist Sonny Liew is not being recognized for his drawing and writing techniques and talents by his native country. Sonny has won three Eisner awards given to the best comic strip artists in the world and sonny has managed to win several awards throughout his career but faces no recognition form the Singapore government and many critics of these actions are hitting Singapore's leaders.  [members of parliament] won’t welcome Sonny at Changi Airport, there won’t be a victory parade, and the Prime Minister won’t laud him in his National Day Rally Speech.”  many have stated and how this comedic master of the pen is ignored by the Singapore press and government is shameful. The government may not like the graphic novel that has helped this young man achieve fame as he often portrayed early Singapore governments following  independence as a cesspool of cronyism and corruption and Singapore's days as an authoritarian state killing thousands of suspected communists is a dark stain on its current status as capitalist global utopia. The government has in fact withheld funds and grants to the art body called the National Arts Council and deemed works like Sonny's "sensitive" in nature and deserving of public financing scrutiny. Sonny don't give a shit at how he is treated by Singapore's leaders as he is a comic genius and rock star throughout the West getting chicks at Comi-con conventions and collecting trophies like fucking crazy. The government of Singapore cutting funding has only galvanized Sonny's celebrity nature and galvanized his fans to further spread his work and detail throughout the publishing and comic world and ahhh one would expect Sonny to gather three more MVP trophys in th eupcoming years.
