Theatres in trouble part three patio theatre

Nick Dumbilio

Patio theatre is a run down theatre in Chicago that shows movies and sometimes old classics. I read on the news that they can no longer afford air conditioning and announced that they will no longer have any for the summer but will remain open. They will remain open until the very hot days I suppose. This comes after they did a fundraiser and were able to convert their screens to required high definition that the movie studios had implemented some time ago for having right to view their movies. Times are going to be real rough for all these old movie theatres that somehow have remained the test of time and survived to this day. these theatres were built in the day before corporate movie studio greed decided to put two dozens of screens in place of the smaller venue that dotted every urban neighborhood and served as a magnate for folks and small business in the neighborhood. Patio days are numbered and in its place most likely will be scummy ethnic flea markets that draw little diversity except from south of the borders.
