Syria like much of the Middle East is a mess. A complete disaster and a region filled with people with no hope except for the little old book. Western style Capitalism and Eastern style mafia gangster rule is not in the books or the book of the Koran and basically most people want Sharia law in the Middle East. However the elites that both Mr Putin and Mr Obama represent want the resources that lie beneath the sands of these desert nomads. Their installed leaders over the years have proven to be unpopular and the legacy of the cold war and colonialism continue to haunt these lands. A reformation that attacks the power of religion is needed and can only result when the people in these lands realize that religion has been a tool to make a fool out of them and keep them poor. When Arabs realize this they will be ashamed to call themselves Arabs and may just seek a dam Berber identity. Obama may do these strikes if ano0ther Chemical attack occurs but why would he even care. Basically to save face and if there is one thing an American president fears the most it is how he will be remembered once he leaves office. Image is important and a bad one may hamper post white house speech tours and book sales. Obama needs to prove to the Russians, the Arabs,Europeans,Chinese, Eskimos that he is a strong leader of the free world. In actuality Obama and Putin are not leaders and they likely take their orders from a higher source. The American president represents the folks in America that think for a nation to be strong we have to have military bases in the backyard of every nation on Earth. This type of thinking is well represented especially in the gun culture of the American South. In that part of the country a service career is looked with honor as if there is some honor in occupying a land and controlling a people that don't want you there. The American military is a joke and the more we spend on it the more problems these leaders will seek out to get personal involved and participating somewhere. A draft would put an end to this and this is what is needed more than ever to get Americans to question their presidents actions overseas.
