Ugliest and strangest looking bird...the Shoebill
Jake Glass
The strangest among the strange storks of this world is the Shoebill. The beak of this bird looks like an old wooden dutch shoe and this bird has a beak that is an average length of 23cm. this large beak makes this bird perhaps the best fisherman of all the bird species that loiter its swamps in the midday. it ambushes a ariety o0f prey that moves suddenly in the sweltering African swamps including such delicacy's as snakes, fishes, amphibians, lizards, turtles, waterbirds, and even grinning baby crocs as long as none of the big ones are apparent or nearby. This creature eluded Western scientists up until 1851 hiding in the floating vegetation smelly swamps of the Sudan and modern Zambia. This is a solitary bird and you can know this just by the bizarre look of this creature that no other thing with feathers including its own species would want to hang with it. Even the chick lets seemed frightened of their mothers I have observed in months in the bush observing this stork dork. each breeding pair need a full 2 km from killing one another they cant stand any company whatsoever, I went to African a few times and studied the great storks and this is one species that won't even tolerate humans within its range. This species has perplexed scientists who still disagree where the fuck to place this species and who they are most related to. If it acts like a pelican and moves like one I say place it with the pelicans. If the shoe fits then place this bird with pelicans or herons of the world.
