Socia critic criticism...Army surplus stores

Ramon Ramos
A huge ass Army surplus store opened in my town of Rockford recently and it made me reminisce on what was once a more common retail outlet. Army surplus stores never make a profit yet were ubiquitous  in many Midwestern cities an d college towns over the years. it seems surprising with the militarization of the police and increase of American military spending that the opposite would be occurring and more surplus stores would be opening up. Army Surplus stores really suck though and most everything in there is overly priced cheap junk that American contractors get made cheaply by Amerindian peasants somewhere lie in Guatemala.   I never understood military stores and am not dismayed to see these stores disappear and close out. I would rather see empty storefronts of for lease signs than these military stores. unless you are near an army base there really serves no purpose of these stores unless you are just some gun and camouflage nut that thinks military wear and gear makes you hard. it is unfortunate to see Rockford get a store of this type and size and I am confident it wont last long as much of the population of Rockford is old and past military serving age. Unfortunately you will get some of these old geezards who want to reminisce on their use and their unfortunate military experience wishing they could of blasted more gooks and Sand heads and will congregate into these stores. As I said there are fewer army surplus stores in the Chicago region and that is a good thing. the military has enough power and influence as it is and having these temples to this fetish all over the lands like Walgreens and Wal Marts would be really pathetic and shameful. rural and suburban areas look bad enough and having more decrepit stores selling camouflage and used army underwear would be shameful.
I like the new ad that a local Rockford paper had trying to ad sex into this package with a pretty model. this Rockford army surplus store is embarrassing for Rockford natives as there are already many embarrassing reasons to say from your from Rockford and these lame ass stores will not help the image of Rockford and can only hurt the city to try to redeveloped and become more of an urban small hip city trying desperately to attract young professionals instead of old folks and Mexicans looking for even cheaper housing.
