The great social critic and the inspiration for this blog James Howard Kuntsler had another podcast with his usual guest Dave Collum. Ever since James lost his young producer the diversity and interest of guests on his podcasts have dramatically declined and he keeps having this chemist who writes about politics and economics and is treated as an expert. They were discussing college campuses and how the political nature of the campus doesn't allow for discussion because of the thought police. College campuses are places where one needs to conform to what is appropriate to be said in a group as offending others is taken serious and this is the problem the anti-PC crowd criticizing this approach to campus harmony have a major problem. A Kuntsler nor Collum will not conform their critiques and delivery approach to conform to a highly educated and persistent college environment. There is absolutely nothing wrong with campus presidents and staff taking this approach as no student on a campus needs to be felt ostracized because of what some dickhead comes on campus and tries to promote and it is really surprising that these higher educated meatheads like Kuntlser and Collum just cant seem to comprehend. Collum and Kuntsler are just old white men that can't seem to adapt to the changing nature of college campsus and their political reality where people will easily take to offense as this is a public sphere of debate and intolerant shit will be questioned by academics and students alike. Collum, who teaches chemistry at Cornell University went on to tell Kuntsler that he really doesn't give a crap about what offenses people have with what he has freedom to say. Kuntsler also says he is more shy about speaking tours on college campuses as he often gets punked by these kids a third of his age taking offense to how Kuntsler describes some social commentary on the world quoting his books and not use to someone expressing doubt nor anger. Collum has a book coming about discussing his views about the terrible climate on college campuses and this is another reason they discussed this topic than the usual economic decline of the West. I have often noticed that those most critical of politically-correct power on college campuses are often from a demographic that resists change or knows no respect of this important aspect on college coming from an era where there was no tolerance for differences when they went to college in their early twenties. This is what all this anti-PC dialogue is about. Collum just needs to be lecturing on bondings and formula expressions and keep his mouth dry on other topics while doing his fucking job teaching Chemistry
