Social critic criticism...women's expensive handbags finally start to lose luster

Cecil Brewster
Sales of premium handbags for women are down some twenty percent in a few years and it seems finally the influence and power of these handbag makers is finally in decline.  Many young urban hip women would rather go out to shows than to collect these handbags that really are not that different from one another and that some women had accumulated some on average thirteen handbags according to some surveys is just complete nonsense. All the big brands are seeing major declines in sales from Michael Kors to Coach to Kate Spade and so forth. Many of these brands are now having to offer less expensive brands as sales to the daughters of elites trickles down as parents can't comprehend this handbag addiction and cut off allowances and what they can buy.  The Wall Street journal seemed disappointed by this recent development as sales of high-priced luxury items to visually declare their higher status compared to others is celebrated by this paper. From a social criticism point of view here at the blog any lessening of the notion that a purse needs to be more than fifty bucks is good news and it is high time that people start to realize spending on a bag any more than necessary just because some slave-waged women in poor countries got paid pittance do fashion executives can live like kings at these insane marked up prices. The big brand bag makers say people are waiting for new styles and so forth but without question the obsession with handbags is puttering out  as the idea of big companies having influence of what you buy is no longer seen as cool and this is a trend any idiot can see. even a Gerald Celente can see that Kors is in trouble.
