Many Cuban players returned to Cuba to flaunt their wealth in their homeland from their bloated salaries to play beisbol in America. Baseball is a sport only corporate running Middle America enjoys and uses as a base to funnel money to themselves from their companies and exchange network with their connections and fellow corporate raiders.
The corporate media informed of the triumph return of many of these defectors who left their country and fellow countrymen so they can play a game for foreigners and enriched themselves as the rest of their countrymen are mired in extreme poverty because of the corporate global structure determining that it is more profitable for may people around the world to be in poverty. baseball though is a favorite pastime of some of these wicked nobility and they ensure players are extremely provided for their ability to swing a bat and field a hot grounder properly most of the time. 
These players abandoned and jumped ship as quickly as they could to swim to America and abandon the system that trained them. The Cuban system and league is abysmal now as the top talent in the country flock like seagulls to Americas minor league in a perverse sign of regional inequality where Omaha gets better Cuban players that cities on the island. For this the Cuban people should flock to soccer and abandon this stupid Yankee sport anyway and the lack of people in Cuban baseball stadium stands is a sign of the coming generational split that should see the demise of baseballs popularity on this island. baseball has a history as old as Americas and the athletes are revered like kings in this communist country but as more and more of the best leave few people will care about their own leagues and remaining players playing for peanuts. The ideal scenario will be for the Cuban people to wake up and realize their over-paid athletes are nothing to get worked about and really should there be proudness to be Cuban because some play a Yankee sport that isn't even the most popular sport in North America? More and more Americans are waking up to the fact that baseball is an abysmal sport that only old geezards and neurotic stats geeks think is of interest and baseball ratings continue to dip as cable corporate world puts more and ore money into the system. Fidel Castro pushed baseball and the sport into Cuban limelight as its domination of baseball field many Cubans to speculate on the domination of the Cuban athlete. 
One only has to see the few Cubans on NFL football and on the roster of the North Melborne Kangaroos to see this is evidently not true and only their madness for a dumb sport enabled them to win so many international beisbol tournaments. You never see Cubans on rugby teams or soccer giant clubs in Europe as they refuse to play sports that other country's take more seriously. Cuba \has and always will suck ass in soccer competition as well and perhaps the Cuban athletes failure at most sports is reasoning for the strong appeal of baseball in Cuban cuture. As far as the news of these Cuban superstar defectors returning to Cuba and seeing their families who really gives a kick abput that shit.
