Noam Chomsky appears on Dave Zirin's Edge of Sports podcast

Dave Berkson
The great Noam Chomskey was on Dave Zirin's podcast the other day answering sports questions and pretty much letting Zirin knows he is  ot that interested in the sports world given the problems he has been fighting for in his eighty years. Chomsky went on to say how the academic world has sold its soul to the sporting industrial complex where all new building and investment goes towards sorts at the expense of other programs. Chomsky went on to say how the black student-athlete is not really given an education but orders instead of when to be at practice and what game plans are for the next game. Dave Zirin and Noam Chomsky then went on to say how sorts predominates in everyday speech of the derelict zombie in America and how it serves as a distraction in the everday life along with the celebrity obsessions and pop music culture in this country. Noam went on to say the amount of money diverted from company profits towards advertising and events as the Super Bowl pretty much reinforces inequality and excuses to divert money away from workers and into campaigns and gimmicks to reward outsiders at the company and other connected industrialists and corporations. getting Noam Chomsky to speak on his podcast about the sporting world and to mention who he would root for if he were at all concerned about sports was a coup for Zirin surprising his listeners with a guest of the statue of Noam Chomsky on his new interview format on sports and politics.
