Christies Pub and grill is a nasty fucking bar nothing like the Itasca Inn next to tree guys Pizzeria in Itasca , Illinois where I bartend and sometimes wait tables. This bar is in the middle of a residential area which now days is bizarre and perhaps only for this unique feature is this bar worth a visit. This is a mom and pop store and the owner and his moma often are there ready to serve you cheap corporate beer right off the nasty tap.
The food is atrocious and looks like it came from the local dollar store or Aldi superstore down the block. Only in Milwaukee can a place such as this survives and it is tranquil to see places such as Christies Pub and another neighboring residential bar which will be the topic of a future post. As head bar an d beer writer for this blog it is my job to examine our geographical area and survey some of the damage and places Milwaukee's big beer have helped produce in setting up branch outlets through the years for their piss water corn-syrup bad beer.
is located in the middle of blocks and offers local residents a place to get some brew nd get away locks of housing which back in the day before zoning laws and suburbia were very common. This place offers local residents a place to go after a family argument and walk into another families as this guy and his moma argue and bicker a lot the time I was there. This place is a shithole and is basically barely above a trailer park mobile home on the inside and outside. The food is so bad I nearly gagged and visiting a place like this makes me appreciate the Itasca Inn on Irving park Road in Itasca, Illinois and I am amazed that some of these Milwaukee bars are so bad. these were once outlets from Pabsts and others giving small business opportunities to see and distribute their beer
and to make people have easy access to beer down the corner. Christie's Pub has survived the test of time and continues the dive bar tradition in Wisconsin which thus far have battled the monotonous appeal of cookie-cutter national chains that have become ubiquitous everywhere else and make people really not care about the suburbs of America.
