In downtown Janesville a corner bar that is part of the incredible twenties era landscape of this town exists but it seems like it doesn't really exist. The Hill Top Pub is there and appears to still be running but on most days the people of Janesville wonder if tis bar is ever open. "In my thirty years of living in this town I have never seen this place open" says Jessie Hill who has loved down the street for the past decade. The bar has aging stone steps and appears to be about four thousand square feet or so from peering though the window and the décor appears modern with a sports pub look to it.
There are no business of hours in operation and this bar is even closed for Green Bay Packer Sundays and Monday nights when playing. This bar is a mystery and some have even said it is a ghost business with haunted drunk spirits inside debating whether Bart Starr is the greatest quarterback of all time and why Milwaukee has no pro football team and must root for the Pack. There have been several two in the mornings after coming up to this scumtown to visit friends that I have staggered over to this bar form getting drunk at the other bars and wondered when this shithole is open. a few ties I thought I heard voices inside and wonder if some numbers bracket or private card party is going on in the back rooms. This bar is never open and is either a shill business for number rackets for the mob or is just some greedy Greek sitting on property and just doesn't want to pd much with it.
