An incredible German bar on North Avenue in Milwaukee will be changing in the ever scam of escalating bar/restaurant/tavern ownership of the one urban percent. Von Trier is a popular bar yet somehow the new owners wish it to become more of a hangout for the swanky crowd and all vestige of the bars German inspired interior and murals will be erased and redeveloped into one of them 20 dollar drink places. Milwaukee and this area have lost many a great bar in the past two years as tis area seeks to redo itself into a luxury hangout of exclusivity and it is a shame the long-time owners of Von Trier allowed someone to purchase their debt and bar with plans of totally redoing everything this bar was known for and special as a unique tavern experience. Despite Milwaukee large German and Polish population very few businesses reflect this heritage and there are minuscule numbers of German and Polish food eateries and this is a directed plan. They do not want great unique independent businesses like Von Trier being a tourist spot with its abundance of wood carving sculptures and murals of German beer hall drinking scenes as well as its famed chandelier. The corporatists do not like the unique narrow halls of this German bar that surprising lead to another bar but instead want people to go to corporate constructed cheap glass buildings like a BWW or Hooters.
There should never be many more Chinese restaurants as more than any European heritage restaurants and the reason there is are nefarious having nothing to do with demographics and ore with destroying white ethnic culture and heritage into a brain-dead acceptance of the ubiquitous chains such as Potbelly and Noodle and Company . I recall a time a big shot investor use to walk in often into the Itasca Inn and tree Guys Pizzeria on Irving Park Road in Itasca and wanted to open a big Chinese restaurant and we told them go to hell. the closure of Von Trier is to make room for the new people and foreigner sin this Milwaukee area to spend their high-health care industry incomes on expensive booze. Von Trier was a local treasure that likely was on the radar of the internationalist globetrotters residing in this hip neighborhood and prefer to see a place more in like to their tastes and patronizing and celebrating a certain ethnic culture with a long history in its current location is not on the plans of the new developers.
