The scam and ham of the Naitonal Hockey Leagues standings

George Jenner
A few years ago I looked at the standings of the National Hockey league and noticed something unusual is organized sport through the years and the change the league had done that flew under the radar. the number of teams that appear solid and with good records is now inflated because any and all overtime loses are now fake loses and not included as such.
Hockey figured out that teams not with winning records likely draw less and less as the long boring dulls season drags and so Overtime losses get a point and another category in the standings ....which is just fucking ridiculous. Hockey has always been a fringe violent boring  sport followed by the worse of the worse in Canada, America, and Europe and the sport in America is desperate to remain relevant and grow.  The idea of having it appear as many teams as possible can be competitive by manipulating standings and making it appear there are as few losers in the league and bad teams is an effective strategy. I mean who will ever want to support a losing team in what is most probably the sixth most popular sport in the country. Some would say this is brilliance of the league but all it is just not recording losses and would be the equivalent of the NFL putting losses by field goals in another category or baseball doing it for extra inning games and so forth. Take the current record of the Carolina Hurricanes who at 20-17-8 seem to be competitive and not having a shitty season. However,  if one were to record the overtime losses Carolina would be 20-25 and more empty seats and ticket sales would result in what is obviously a fuckey hockey loser team. Likewise with the Anaheim  Ducks who on appearance of looking at the "fake" standings appear to be having a successful stellar season with a record of 22-16-9 but the mystery 9 should be added to the loss category and this changes things validating the truthfulness that the Ducks suck and are a three game sunder five hundred and should be called out for the non-playoff team they will become. It is sad that hockey now needs to manipulate standings and not be clear how many bad teams there are and this sport is deserving of the little mainstream recognition or report and without the subsidies of corporations and their ticket packages this sport would not  even exist.
