Chicago train silver streaks through a platform and the unsafe workers of the CTA

The Chicago Transit worker who fell asleep a few weeks ago while controlling an el train was fired yesterday.  Many people were emailing me waiting for my response on this accident and having covered transportation for several years this is one of e worse and stupidest accidents I have seen and am glad it was captured on camera for all to see. Why it took this long for this woman to get fired for her crash on the final O'Hare stop I will never know. The crash was captured on security cameras and is pretty amazing to watch over and over again. a commuter and a security guard moved moments before the train made its way up the escalator towards where they were standing and its a miracle nobody was actually killed in this late night accident. i think there were about thirty injuries which at the time of the accident clearly had to be everyone that was on the train.have been on is platform many times seeing the many shady workers of the CTA. Many transit workers are overworked and this particular worker had only been on the job a couple of months and had worked a lot of overtime. Snoozing while operating a massive commuter train is a recipe for disaster and I am to surprised to see this accident occur in Chicago. Many of these workers are politically connected folks who really have little training and if the average rider really looked at the employees the CTA hires they expectantly would feel really unsafe. I may push the CTA for installation of seat belts and crash helmets in the future.
