Colin Woodward knows pirates
Herbert Gilbert
Colin Woodward is a journalist who wishes he could of been a pirate. The author of several books on the dangerous seas of some centuries ago Colin has written an enlightening and entertaining pirate book titles "The Republic Of Pirates' and basically he writes the story of a pirate uprising in the Caribbean. basically pirates were past versions of a terrorist Islamic State interfering with commerce and making enemies and allies of people who some would come to respect while others fear and dread this menace. These pirates established a short-lived and crude republic in the Bahamas before Britain decided to spend some money and crush them after having so many of their ships taken and plundered. The book culminates is a classic campaign of commander Rogers is destroying the pirates cove and killing Blackbeard. This book covers primarily 1714 to 1720 when the rise and fall of Caribbean piracy was achieved and Woodward does a great job telling this true dramatic story. he also gives details of the major pirates and how they came to their demise from warfare and shipwrecks with information on such as Blackbeard, Bellamy,Black Sam, and Chares Vane. This book covers how warfare with Spain and France lead to the rise of piracy and why Great Britain shortly after unification of crowns of Scotland and England were slow to do anything about the pirates in the Caribbean. when they started to attempt to plunder their North American holdings though the issue became a more top priority and hence Woods Rogers was sent in to quash this growing problem of piracy that was gaining territory and subjects by the month. There was a lot of wealth being created by the shipping between two continents and piracy was an option for the many sailors, indentured servants. outlaws, thieves, and slaves that were left out of this economic progression of the new united empire.
