The sick culture of civil war reenactors

Terry Blue

I was recently passing the Daily Caller web site and saw a link to a place where you could see the ten hottest civil war reenactors. This slideshow had various hunky men in civil war attire and it got me to thinking just how bizarre the whole rural sub-culture of civil war reanacting is in this country. It would be like urban areas reanacting labor strife and Chicago would have a couple of historical ones from Pullman to haymarket riot. As we approach the 150 Th anniversary of the bloody battle of Gettysburg there will be hicks from the South to Pennsylvania all over re battling these battles with guns and blank bullets. I think popularity of these reenactions have something to do with obsessive nature of the gun culture in rural America. They are so bored in their tiny towns and counties that these reenactions give today's rural folks a sense of pride and awareness from the mundanes of their pathetic lives. White people in the South are especially big time losers and organize most of these lame ass war theatre although no state is immune from these stupid acts. Even states that never even had a battle in the civil war will have these civil war fights. Some states have reenactors battle Indian fights as well. It should be no surprise that only this neurotic country has anything like this. Last I recall France or Englad would not want to glamorize World War II and Battle of Britain. There is some weird American psychic that seems to love war and misses the actions and storytelling of war on our frontier. It could explain why this country does little to protest the current actions and plans of the American war complex in its foreign oil adventures. This is just a sick country that wants more war. I am just glad people in urban areas don't do any of this silly stupid shit.

  1. If you live in an urban area... please stay there. I have reenacted with Yankees, Confeds who are doctors, lawyers, engineers, all the range. You really need to get a life.

  2. To quote: "Last I recall France or England would not want to glamorize World War II and Battle of Britain."....Actually we do. So do the Russians and even the Germans take part in reenactments on these historical periods. Not so much to "glamourize" war, but more so to educate the public that watch us and keep history alive and make a fitting tribute to ALL our fallen war dead no matter what the PC idiots do to try and erase the facts they dont like! Which goes to show that in your highly judgmental statement you really know NOTHING about reenacting or the thousands of so called "hicks" that take part in it!

    1. Yes , well said! It’s not just Southerners that want to relive history (and even if it were what right does a cultural marxist moron like this have to judge us?)

  4. A lot of us dont consider ourselves as reenactors any longer but living historians. We are trying to do what the school system in today's society is trying to erase we are teaching the history of our great country. So you sir need to actually come to a reenactment some day and find out what really goes on.
