Social critics criticism Off track betting places full of losers and no one goes

Another oversized race track restaurant that nobody will go to

Chad West
A few years ago there was a downtown complex called Stretch run on Lasalle Street. It was some ridiculous concept of an OTB upstairs and a bar downstairs. Now maybe the geniuses that got financing and wasted money on this didn't realize young people don't go to race tracks. maybe the idiots didn't think that young people would want to go to a place that had their grand parents upstairs. Nobody under sixty ever too the long stairwell upstairs to bet on horses. I went there a few times and was amazed at how it was only old people up there. I was not amazed at how dead the bar was downstairs even though downtown had plenty of thirsty young people.
Now after four years of trying to get financing and land a new owner has brought the Saddle Room to NW suburban Hoffman Estates in the Chicago area. it will have expensive steaks and plenty of TV screens to watch..horse racing from all around the country. Why investors and restaurant owners keep trying to bring the public something they obviously do not want I will never know. Horse racing is a dead sport that nobody really follows in this country. Only in Arab states and elitist England is there really following and major wagering of men on beasts racing in a circle. Ina few years this business will fail as well like Stretch Run. The suburbs are filled with these places and more are under construction for wagering on a sport so few actually do. Maybe news on the new riverboats has not sunk in to the minds of these nimrods and developers. The few race fans that there are still around are dying off. So who really will be coming to an OTB to eat and watch lame races from half way across that country
