Old Coot bar owner Pat Kennedy having trouible getting people in bar

Baxter Lomax

There is a small shitty bar on Milwaukee Avenue that is having trouble getting patrons. The city of Chicago decided to barricade the owner and his little dive bar with road construction and there is utterly no way to get into the bar. Not to say there was ever a real clamour of people rushing to the Graylord Pub on 3734 Milwaukee Avenue and the bar looks like it would be better off being torn down for wider streets.Pat Kennedy.owns the Grayland Pub, which has been cut off to customers since construction began this summer. | Dave Hoekstra~Sun-Times Media Like many stubborn owners of bars who bitch about taxes and the city trying to take their business away, Mr Kennedy should realize that days of his type of cheep beer bars are history. There is nothing worse than working for a bar that is a dive as I have toiled for years at the Itasca Inn. Many crappy bars like his have hit the deck and many of the owners tried to prevail as long as possible. Mr Kennedy didn't have any help from the city that made access almost impossible to get yet this owner does not see the handwriting on the wall. Chicago and many other  elite urban areas do not want old man bars or taverns that do not serve food to operate anymore within their confines. Mr Kennedy describes his place as a mom and pop run business. The problem with these mom and pop old businesses is that mom and pop no longer reside in cities and the new hipsters want something cool to hang around and a place full of gray heads and called graylords is no longer viable in a global city. maybe he can relocate in Itasca, Illinois. It's as if the The Grayland, at 3734 N. Milwaukee, has been quarantined due to the ongoing construction that cuts off the bar from street traffic. | Dave Hoekstra | Sun-Times Media
