MRS M.R O'conner explains science and attempts to save endangered animals

Scientists are taking extreme measures to save endangered animal species around the world and these attempts are explored by author M.R O'Conner is a book called "Resurrection Science" and she attempts to explain the paradox scientists are in with these attempts to prevent extinctions. In eight chapters she tries to manage the point that human interference with science pretty much creates lab animals that have not developed any of the wild instincts that being raised as a calf into an environment. These animals if cloned would just be a brother from the human researcher mother and bringing back the passenger pigeon would just bring a man-made species not to unlike creating a
virus in  lab or a cell phone in a factory. genetic labs may have good intentions in freezing the last of Hawaii's crows but biologists wonder if these animals would actually be a Hawaiian crow if it was made in San Diego. the decision to save the crow species by importing lab-created crows from frozen DNA would not acknowledge the obvious methods where species even become a separate species through evolution in the wild. O'Conner studies the debate among ethical biologists of the nature of creating animals in a laboratory instead of letting nature develop its course for these species. Some animals like the Buffalo can be brought back from the brink and this reasoning I reckon is why scientists are trying so hard to have the Rhino in Africa as this books devotes much time. even if the White rhino was saved and increased through virto fertilization if they couldn't roam in their former ranges without the repeated chance of slaughter by poachers would they be African White Rhinos or just captive Bronx zoo Rhinos for entertainment and observation by humans on a sunny summer weekend. there are a lot of great questions pondered and asked through this great nature book and as the official naturalist for this blog I highly recommend this book. as far my opinion I think the only animal humans should save from ever possible extinction is the panda and the rest we should eave alone or at least fight against the causes such as killing poachers of wildlife. The panda is a placid, lovable creature and just to adorable to let ever disappear from the face of the earth.
