Chicago cub manager Joe Maddon decided to loosen up the clubhouse and the tension of multi-millionaire players and their egos into co-existing into one winning unit. The sport of baseball already is an observable circus where players dress in clowns in matching stylized uniforms along with the ageing manager. Joe Maddon apparently decided to go an extra mile and demand his players wear ugly suits as they entered Pittsburgh for a series against the pirates. The sight and look of this baseball team in their stupid 'off color' suit day' is an attempt by the manager in keeping it fun around the team and an indication they their work isn't all fun and games as it may appear to the average worker trying to get a living wage. I mean these players earn their money with their difficult toil and important cultural imprint working hard to representing the cities of their base.
A team spokesman said several players went to one supplier — OppoSuits, a 4-year-old online retailer that has established itself as the Brooks Brothers of zany suits.
Founded in Amsterdam, OppoSuits has a line of more than 40 styles of slim-cut and colorful suits, from a Pac-Man maze to pink flamingos. Solid yellow, green, pink and purple suits are among the more subtle offerings. A suit comes boxed as a three-piece set with matching jacket, tie and pants for $99.99. I guess if they can't put advertising on the actual baseball uniform on field baseball owners are developing new ways to use their players for advertising and outlets for companies to spend on baseball.
