Venezuela is a baseball country yet they still try to compete in soccer being a Latin American country. After the united states I always root and check the progress of the Venezuelan national team wondering if they will ever pull themselves by their bootstraps. It is pretty amazing that this country is located in Latin America and is not a soccer juggernaut. Their situation in the real football parallels the Untied states in many ways as they have tried for years to improve the soccer game and battled boring baseball for more sporting g recognition. What is amazing is how the neighboring countries are such football fanatics and don't even have baseball as Venezuela has and this likely handicaps the success of the soccer program in the country. In Foxbrough, Massachusetts Venezuela played the Argentina national team in Copa America actions and Lionel Messi went berserk scoring goals left and right and making the Venezuela national team look like the Harvard's women soccer team. it just seems like Venezuela, like America, can never develop real game breakers and changers like a Lionel Messi that are crucial in football because many of the top athletes in these countries gravitate towards stick ball. there is no doubt that Messi will destroy the aspirations of the American team and coach Jurgen Klinsmann as the thrown together national teams have difficulty stopping a star player of the capability of this incredible argentine star. Venezuelan s Alexander "not great" Gonzalez is atypical of Venezuelan soccer plays thinking more of pussy than on how to guard a Messi. This matchup was the most disgraceful game yet in Copa America and showed the world Venezuela should just concentrate on baseball. You had other players who couldn't even bump a ball on their head and so forth as Messi and Argentines looked like they were in a practice friendly instead of intense regional qualifying match-ups. The state of Venezuela soccer is still bad my friends.
