Bernd Heinrich is some old man who lives in the cabins and watches birds all of the time and writes on nature. he often writes about Ravens and the role they play in the ecosystem and disposing of dead carcasses of animals. Heinrich is obsessed with death in the wildlife and the undertaker role of species of different variety and he took time out from his usual Raven writing to write a book of tis subject called "Life Everlasting" he used a huge chunk of this book though to once again write on ravens and why this guy never writes anything about America's most favorite caged bird pets I will never quite understand. He loves the scavenging role of birds such as vultures and Ravens who actually would never get to play this role if they were kept as pets. Vultures bond quite easily with other vultures and humans Heinrich states in this book and the rare people wo keep vultures are happy and content with this animal that will willingly return once bonded into a cage provided the owner lures a raven or Vultures return with fresh meat. This book is not all about nest dwellers as Bernard discusses the Nicrophorous beetle and how they basically live and seek mouse carcasses to settle down and spend their life with a fellow lifelong beetle mate. He also writes about the dung beetle and how these battles for their little beetle dung ball is a elaborate display of power in natural world and an amazement to witness. All I all though Bernard is mainly a bird watcher and writer whose amazing ability to discover and relate examples of the strangeness of scavenging and ritual bird displays is second to none out there writing today. I just wish he would write a bit about the poor caged species sharing humanity's habitats for their entertainment and pleasure.
