Texas Jays strip club fight could mean adieu to Milwaukee whore house

Cecil Brewster
Texas Jays has survived gentrification in Milwaukee's third ward and this place was always one of my favorite strip places back in the day. Once again this marvelous place to see girls dress down in their bareback nakedness is under attack and in the cross hairs of the city of Milwaukee. The city has long maintained this club  Texas Jay's maintains a "riotous, indecent or improper house" under the law and that for the health and well-being of the community this place should come to an end. This is all about a land grab and that some folks just can't accept that men are willing to watch women get stripped down. perhaps they want a corporate ogle place to be in it space in a Hooters who could provide some construction work for some crony connected developer and contractor. The want to revoke the license of Texas jays so they can get their paws on valuable rea estates and who knows put a Dunkin donuts there. A recent incident is giving Milwaukee and their police state an excuse to put more pressure on Texas Jay's.
Around closing time April 2, Jonathan Rutter argued with a Texas Jay's manager he thought still had his credit card, even though someone in Rutter's party had already collected it for him.
At one point, Rutter took a swing at the manager, Ryan Urban, who then grabbed Rutter around the chest and the two fell onto a table during a very brief tussle, in Whitcomb's description. When they got up, Rutter's friend Jeremy Calteux and another friend had come over to calm the situation and guide Rutter outside.
That's when two patrons knocked Calteux and Rutter out with sucker punches. Calteux was likely humiliated and then decided to hospitalize himself in some preparation for a lawsuit. Police then said they suspected prostitution because there were some bedrooms upstairs and that some old condom was found on the ground from some overly-fishing cop. I have been at this place hundreds of time and never got upstairs despite asking. The city blames the club for no one calling 911 because these drunks hit the pavement after starting  some trouble in the club. who cares if there was a fight at a strip club and blaming Texas Jay's is like blaming MLB for the fiasco between Texas and the Jays a couple of weeks ago. as reported here a couple of weeks ago a brawl developed at a different Texas jays encounter on a diamond field but you don't see police and Arlington, Texas authorities trying to close Ranger stadium. Milwaukee does not want strip clubs. That fight was pathetic and gave yet another black eye to the sport of snore ball.
Milwaukee does not welcome new strip clubs. Last year, a federal a
appeals court upheld a $435,500 jury award in favor of a nude dance club owner who claimed the city violated his rights during efforts to open a club downtown or in Walker's Point.
The same owners, who operate Silk Exotic on the city's far west side and at two other locations in the state, filed a new federal case against the city last year, challenging a new ordinance regulating strip clubs. They have sought judgment in their favor without trial. perhaps they can buy Texas Jays because after this vicious incident the club is Texas toast.
