Joel Salatin is a writer, lecturer and advocate for healthier livestock raising for people constantly battling the forces of big agri-business>he has been trying to educate people about the need for increased awareness and better food purchasing free of harmful chemicals many of which is the same crap one will find in cigarette production. Saltin is a big advocate of people buying their food locally and the importance of food purchasing for the local economies instead of benefitting some massive corporation with headquarters in far away lands or countries caring little about the devastating local impact of their methods on communities. Salatin because of his refusal to send food to locations not within a four-hour drive of his farm, i.e. outside his local “foodshed.” “We want [prospective customers] to find farms in their areas and keep the money in their own community,” said Salatin. there are no Chinese chickens and bad cheap-processed meats being produced on his 550 acre Virginia farm
