The conquest of the Aztec Empire by the Spanish was a by product of the continual Islamo-fascist Christian craziness Medittearrean warfare through the ages between extreme Christianity and the mid-evil Islamic world that monopolized trade thus causing Europeans to eek new routes and riches over seas. Author Buddy Levy wrote an incredible account of the last stand f the Aztec sacrificial murderous empire in a book called "Conquistador" and it recalls how the Spanish Empire finally wiped out this brutal empire so hated by neighboring Indians of Mexico such as the Tlaxcalans---who were the main allies of Hernando Cortes as he made his march inland to destroy the Aztecs in a long and bloody campaign. Cortes destroyed a magnificent city and army of hundreds of thousands with a few men and allies in astonishing military campaign that turned pagan Mexico Christian and ended the generational Aztec practice of human sacrifice and torture to appease these non-existing Gods that Aztecs justified in their sick twisted enthusiasm and cultural practice of blood lust. levy's writing style and factual based detailed research makes this a valuable book on what is always considered a tragedy as Cortes basically instructed a coup against Aztec leader Montezuma who soon found out his Gods were as powerful against Cortes as a sparrow is powerful against an Eagle. The Aztecs and their stone-age technology and warfare were n o match for trained conquistadores seeking riches through exploration mastered at the heavy sword and trained on a horse of spectacular skill. The book looks at the reluctance of Montezuma to meet with Cortes and how eventually the Spanish and the Tlaxcalans forced a meeting by quite literally marching into Tenochtitlan. Levy gives an immense look at the brutality of this war not unlike what we have seen in recent years from Iraq to Lebanon to Syria and elsewhere in the world where two major viewpoints and cultures collide where only one form of representative rule can triumph.
