Paul Preston knows everything about the Spanish civil war you would ever need to know about

Jerry Palmer
Spain has always been a fucked up country and always will be a fucked up one. as mentioned man times before the Sons of Spain are constantly a thorn on Americas Yankee imperialistic side and the imperialism of Spain eventually backfired onto this nation in the late thirties as this nation was rocked for its past sins against other peoples. Author Paul Preston wrote a incredibly detailed book of the Spanish civil war and he leaves no battle or massacre untouched The meticulous detail of this book and civil war is amazing and he leaves no event untouched uncovering all stones of this three way  brutal war. Paul Preston calls this "The Spanish Holocaust" and invariable this was a national holocaust caused by political bickerers and inequalities in the Spanish homeland and the eventual decline of overseas Spanish colonialism likely lead to conditions I the homeland where authorities were not able  to handle as they once were by exporting the poor into the colonies of new Spain. The numerous social strife and strikes against working conditions lead to a major societal breakdown. workers were lead to increasingly militancy as employers absolutely refused to comply with government social legislation meant to ease the plight and burden workers felt. The right-wing and their press helped achieve a climate of fear and loathing with everything based on a Jewish conspiracy to destroy the Catholic traditions of Spain and whether the repression of the landless and peasants were included in these traditions is something the author Mr Preston pretty much concludes through the pre-lude to war in this book. Much like the Spanish inquisition before this civil war religion played a strong role in determining the key narrative of this conflict like much of Spain's history it seems to always play a part. Image result for paul preston authorThe right-wing religious extremists pretty much needed a new scapegoat and people to oppress and it took about a hundred years after losing Mexico for this element in Spanish society to turn on its own people. This war was brutal and Paul Preston has spent a lifetime studying it and discovering every systematic trail, execution, torture, extrajudicial disappearance, and horror in this country as rebel nationalists, Republicans, and communists battled one another for control of every nook and valley in Spain. At times the numerous atrocities described and action of this war is dizzying and the reader is subjugated to too many numerous and detailed inhumanity that existed in these years and was foreshadowing of what the entire continent would face in a few years. This book is hard to put down and keep reading all in one. Image result for spanish civil war
