The decline of trade publishing and incomes available in this new age of neo-liberalism and free content on the internet. James Howard Kuntsler has published eighteen books and he has built up an audience of tens of thousands of loyal listeners enjoying his snarky and attitude of disgust social criticism of how cheap and generic much of modern architecture and modern America looks. however as a recent on-line article reiterated, Kunstler is having the grim illusion that little income gains are being produced from his incredible following and writing style. James Howard received a paltry three thousand dollars in a royalty check from all of his published work through the decades of this writing publishing his social critique work. James Kunstler also said the New York Times would pay writers such as himself one dollar a world for their lengthy Sunday magazine pieces in a competitive free-lancing journalist world and this has now dissipated down to a dime a word. James says the dime will buy nothing but a cinnamon bun in a local and cruddy sprawl mall. James decided to follow the example of Indie filmmakers and musicians and has set up a fund for himself where fans of his writings can contribute and we here at the Adopt a Beast blog highly recommend people to help out this premier social critic of the day and read his work. So far James has received a paltry 400 patrons donating five bucks a month and this has helped him pay some heating bills and upgrade his type-writer. The number of comments and downloads this man receives should add up to a larger income in some way and ahhh I would some up this post to say and plead for people to pony up some jingle to JHK so he can actually afford some ponies on his three acre lot in up-state New York. it got so band and penny-pinching for James Howard Kunstler he had to let go his excellent young podcast co-host named Duncan Crary of some years past that really made the show click as compared the dullness of his solo interviews and podcast programs. Back in the day these two had a great podcast as the clash of generations and unique perspective of society from this resulted in an amazing podcast which is totally lacking form James Kuntsler's current coneption post-Duncun programs. As descried by a local news report of this great writer in the Times Union the payoff for Mr. Kunstler's literary labor has declined through the years and the upending of technology on the literature business has been as devastating as both the music and movie industries seeing much revenue drop from the cycle of internet and alternative art forms for people to compete with the ranks of the distinguishable writers such as James Howard.
