I cannot believe Abagail never mentioned Catwpman from the original batman series. Abagail Tucker loves cats and is obsessed with humanity and the internets obsession with cats. The amount of time people devote to looking at cats and talking about them is unmatched on the web and in her book called" The Lion In The Living Room" she looks at how the cat-human relationship has developed and evolved to the modern computer and robotic age. The growth of housecats around the world has been recent phenomena but these small carnivores have always held sway to past peoples and civilizations and this cat woman does a good job exploring past and present fatuation with cats. the expressionless and dim witted look of cats along with their independent nature and elegance of movement has mystified man and beast.
Even their prey sometimes are addicted to the predator and Abagail takes a long look at the Taxoplasma virus link in the brains of many species that allows this neurotic parasite to cross species and live in the guts of animals hoping for a return trip into the belly of a cat monster. Many a rodent made the wrong dead end turn into a cats snarl thanks to this parasite and it has been suggested cats turn human brains into butter as the increase of schizophrenia as this disease was very rare before the advent of cats in peoples households.
This author writes several interesting chapters on cats such as the at grooming industry, cat lobbies, cat predation on wildlife, cat obesity, and cat shows. The solidary nature of the cat and the total difference form dogs is another reason why cats are so beloved by many people and a preferable pet. A great read despite the batman Catwoman snub of the sixties program.
