Bloom Comic creator Berkeley Breathed once again drew a comic strip featuring his awful and silly penguin comic strip with Calvin form Calvin and Hobbes. few people care or think about the eighties comic strip he created with a penguin as the center piece and for a few years Berkeley has tried to associate himself with Bill Waterson and the beloved Calvin and Hobbes comic strip with his cross over attempt. One thinks that perhaps Berkely is auditioning to Mr Waterson to bring back Calvin and Hobbes and he can do the drawing as clearly Berkeley knows this is the only way to get Mr Waterson's attention or anything written about him in social media and the internet today.
Berkeley Breathhead dis one of the worse comic drawers and comic strip artists of all time and for his to suddenly stake a part of the creation of Bill Waterson's beloved comic strip show his failure. I studied Bloom County and cannot understand how this was in any paper outside than small college newspapers. Bloom County is crudely drawn and about as interesting as watching kids skateboard on a gravel road in Arkansas. Berkeley form time to time releases one of his bad comic strips and has a Bloom County update but few pay attention to it in 2015 as few did when this comic strip ran form 1980-1989.
In tried to see what Bloom County was all about studying it to some length and can only conclude it is a slightly average comic strip with no real long-lasting appeal and was largely forgotten by 1993 expect for a core dozen or so hardcore followers. Berkeley is likely a much larger fan of Calvin and Hobbes than his own penguin strip and maybe if he makes a stronger pitch and more financial incentive he can get his dream of owning the rights and creating new Calvin and Opus comic strips. How Calvin and Hobbes fans would deal with the change of Calvin's' best friend becoming a stuffed penguin over a tiger would likely make major earthquake waves in the comic industry.
