Dollarocracy is a great book explaining the rise of money in politics and how those who don't have a lot to burn will never have a voice where only money matters. These authors make a good look through the history of politics and how campaign donations and the spending on advertising really undermine the democratic process in this country.
there are many books that are pointing out this discrepancy to modern day elections and the power business and money has a stranglehold of the election process. However these guys devote two crucial chapters to the fall of journalism and the ethics and art form of this crucial media form as one of the causes of dollarocracy. They write about the rise and fall of the media into today's partisan era. This is an era where all the outlets can be bought for by billionaires with their own personal agenda and who they want to be president or congressman. A unbiased press that does its job is crucial for a democracy to run and flourish and obviously we do not have this today and are seeing the disasterous results in the past few elections. The amount of money spent in 2012 was insane and any rich folks that say we don't have money to improve conditions for those less off are full of bullshit. This book is so great that it needed two top noth authors to produce this book and I recommend it for those wanting more insight about how money is destroying politics.
