Social critics criticism...Video gaming in bars
Baxter Lomax
The casinoization of America continues and in this area bars have gotten permission in some localities to put up what are basically slot machines in bars and restaurants. There have always been some under the table mob-controlled video poker machines in Chicago area taverna downscale the state legalized it a year or two ago. As someone who has been in the industry for almost fifteen years I can say this is not a good idea. people are usually not at their best judgement while in a bar and these machines likely will pay out much less than an actual casino. How the hell anyone can trust or think they will make a killing off these machines in a dam dive bar. if the Itasca Inn every installs them I will definitely quit my day job and not only because it will take tips out of my wallet. I do not want to see these drunk bastards lives further ruined by another addiction and the state of Illinois or others that allow these casinos and slots to appear all over the place need to take accountability for their actions against these citizens. Government has a duty to protect the most vulnerable citizens and not encourage activities that will make these saps further in the hole and more dependent on government when they drop all their lifesavings in a casino or now their favorite watering hole. what a joke this idea was and it really is a bad one yet and just shows the power of a lobbying group that wanted to expand their business even more than it exists.
