The Beatles signal and end to White male cultural dominance

Ramon Ramos

The hype of the Beatles and the anniversary of their appearance fifty years ago on the Ed Sullivan show is significant in it shows how far this country has come. I always insist that the beatles were only as large as they were back then because other groups were not included in the racist society at the time. Clearly the Beatles would be very insignificant today if they came over from England playing the music they do now. Even if you take them in today's musical tastes they would just be another boys group that really would not explode to the insane level we saw in the early sixties. The Beatles would just be another band...maybe something like Panic at the Disco or whatever the name of that group. If the Beatles had not been white in 1964 would people had really made them the huge success they eventually turned out to be in culture and all over the world. This band just represents the downfall of white people in music as you will never see a white band or male musical act be as huge as Elvis or the Beatles. Sure you will have an occasional breakthrough star as Justin Timberlake or Justin beiber whose femininity and youth will appeal to some and explains their popularity. No white musical act though will last long and the teen stars will get old at twenty one. It is obvious that fifty years after their Ed Sullivan act the Beatles are still mainly just all hype.
