The porn industry has seen better times. Faced with increase regulation and piracy and just slack of apathy for porn general the industry is reeling back into the seventies era excluded from much mainstream following. The collapse of the porn industry is one positive sign of our culture as former big stars are now regulated to cabaret and special appearances to dwindling live audiences. The over abundance of free porn is the best hypothesis I can draw for the decline as the implosion of other media on the market. I quite never could understand how the industry had once got large as watching complete strangers have sex should appeal to only the most piteous jerk who financially rewarded women who would never sleep with them.
I remember a few nights in downtown Chicago and Milwaukee seeing just abut every other women dressed like a porn star and thinking there had to be a convention in town of porn stars when in fact looking like one became so mainstream. This is probably one reason why porn declines when you could practically see bimbos on the street. There are many hypothesis on why the porn industry is dead and if you search on google you will find many articles proclaiming the death of porn. The money s all gone and only a few fools would actually spend dough on a massive DVD collection and most who do are in their fifties or above. Attendance at these adult expos are in massive decline and a recent trip I took in Rosemont at the Donald Stephan's convention center was pretty dull and appalling and I could see why this industry is shrinking despite the fact that it is sex-related in a really sexualized society. What happens to the numerous performers mainly female who once made Great income from little work talent outside of having sex is still in lingo.
The writing is on the wall though and they will likely have few other resources than hooking on the side which many stars are now having to do. In about five years more studios will be under but there will be more free and live sex on the Internet and this is the way it should be after all sex should be free.
