The US woman's soccer team won another world Cup in a world where women do not have half of the backing and corporate sports networking structure set up to make sports so engrained in society. Celebrating the woman's world cup soccer victory would be like the Chinese get cracking winning the Ping Pong World Cup of table tennis. The makeup of the team shows the clear example of inequality of sport team opportunities in this country a this team was as lily white as a hockey team. Dave Zirin went on to mention the World Cup for women on his podcast failing to ask or question why this team was so White in a country made up of millenniums who are so less and less. The lack of Latinas on this team is very appalling as soccer has traditionally been a South American and Latin sport. How Dave Zirin went on to miss this while at the same time talking about the lack of publicity and sexism in Brazil for support for their women playing the sport they are obsessed about on a daily basis.
With this I agree with the male Brazilians as the concept of women playing this kickball is not very important as the American media,feminists, and just plain sports athletic addictions should care about on the continent of North America. I just want the focus to be on how hockey and this woman's sport is so dam White and nothing is said about the inequalities that support this. I would be willing to be that all the members of this woman's team were from families with annual incomes reaching well over a hundred grand and all this free time to practice and play while teenage Latina girls pick tobacco for a living in North Carolina shows what a crack this whole women's World Cup happens to be.
