Bruiser Brody's last shower

Dave Berkson

A wrestling and true crime column combined today folks. Frank Goodish was better known as the wrestler Bruiser Brody. he was technically the biggest wrestling free agent of the eighties as he refused to be stuck to one wrestling organization. The man played pro football for a time with the Washington Redskins. he was a big brawler loved by many fans all over the Wrestling world from North America to Asia. In Mid July of 1988 he went to work for Carlos Colon's World Wrestling Council. A Puerto Rican wrestler had a towel and asked the big bruiser to come to the shower area. Bruiser was found laying down with thirty stab wounds and it took a hour for an ambulance to come. Other wrestlers in the locker room refused to talk nor help the paramedic carry the body to the waiting ambulance. A wrestler named Jose Gonzalez was arrested and acquitted of this grisly crime, after all it did occur in Puerto Rico. Many of these same coward wrestlers who refused to cooperate with Puerto Rico authorities then refused to ever wrestle in Puerto Rico. They knew that if someone the size of Bruiser could get offed because of a little argument that they could get sliced and diced too by a wrestling promoter. Morale of the story is never go to a shower area with a naked Puerto Rican carrying a towel.
