Chicago Bill Murray lead a raucous singing of the seventh inning stretch Donald Duck style the othe rnight in a world series of boring baseball match up. The Chicago Cubs and baseball in general are desperate in remaining somewhat relevant and this years story they rigged up for the increasingly long and boring fall classic was between two traditional losers rust belt cities in the Mid West.
Much of the younger generation and multi-cultural folks are moving on to soccer and this is something baseball is really concerned about. Bill Murrays singing of the seventh inning stretch s Daffy duck was both stupid and bizarre and only a platform like baseball would even need something as ridiculous as a fan stretch and celebrity sing along for an aging and dying sport. A sport subsidized in so many ways by both government and especially corporations thinking they are clever by having some guy in ovies in the seventies to be highlighted soften as he was in this World Series. the world Series of 2016 is long going to be remembered as the Bill Murray World Series and the sudden surge of popularity of the Chicago Cubs has more to do with winning than actual fandom. The fact that Murray would pay legacy to Donald Duck and warner Brother sis interesting being that this cartoon duck has not been culturally relevant for years. One can hope baseball will soon follow the same pth for Donald Duck's career and importance in society.
