I received some startling news from my Chinese pen pal Leu Xi Shuck the other day about wildlife affairs in his country. It appears that the awesome beasts the Siberian tigers are making a tremendous rebound in parts of China. A tribune article I ran across confirms the success of helping stave off the elimination of this incredible and largest big cat in the world. decade long attempts to help restore the habitat is among the reasons for the growth of the tiger population in China along with a cultural shift. You see hunting has long been banned of any animals in China except for the rat..if you want to count that as a mammal.
This has been the case since the fifties and China has a good record of protecting animals except for those uneducated assholes who think tiger bones will get their cock hard. The fact is between the forests of China and Russia this great beast is making a comeback and the attitude among the people for their powerful and fuzzy neighbor has changed. herders are not as upset at losing a few cows as they would of been in the past. Some will say that China's strict gun laws have helped to curtail hunting of animals and perhaps this has helped. According to my friend the Chinese are amazed at how quickly the tiger is spreading throughout China as trip cameras are spotting these elusive creatures all over the Northeast sections of China. It is really rare and difficult from what I hear for people ever to observe a live tiger in China and this animal has evolved a creditable knack for avoiding people.
America has way too many guns, animals, and hunters and maybe we can learn a thing or two about helping preserve animals in their natural habitat. A slowly changing cultural shift is taking place fortunately in the hunting business in America. Younger folks are not such prime animal massacring addicts as previous hunting generations in rural America. The tiger would of been long wiped out if it was native to North America and fortunately the Asian land mass is so large tigers were able to survive the onslaught from an era of people who considered these creatures disposable. Whenever an animal looks like these as cubs they are worthy of preserving no matter how big ,bad, fearsome they may become for some scardy cats.
