GB" You often stated the fighting spirit in hockey and other nicknames that displease you.
CF: Any sport that glorifies fist poundings in the game is a barbaric sport. Fans will say this is part of the sport and I am sure they will also privately say racial segregation is part of it too. This is the story of America and the proudness of fighting mainly because they won so many of the fights against Indians and around the world. You see it with the nicknames as well including Rangers,Jets,Senators,Kings,. Most are references to aspects of Western civilization. This is mainly and will always be a Western sport.
GB: Much of what I hate about hockey is how dam long the sport is. The season starts in October and goes to June. That's pathetic.
CF The hockey chiefs in recent years try very hard to spread the game from its Northern base to other areas in America. The hockey leaders know that it is a regional sport and that the best way to spread it is other areas much like soldiers spread through North America.
GB: Hockey players do not have the endurance of even soccer players as lines shift constantly during the game. The only real skill is being a fast skater and having a knack for being at the right place at right time.
CF: Hockey a very boring game to watch on television. Ratings very low compared to other sports and few players go mainstream. This is a sport as you referred to that is mainly popular in wealthy communities.
GB: Well many parents who dream of having kids play sports push their sons into this sport over others. They know this is one sport they don't have to worry about competition with minority youth. This is basically what the American dream is all about.
CF: One has to look at the American Indian game of lacrosse and compare it to hockey and see why there is an NHL and No National Lacrosse league. A NLL would not be able to be so white and rich dominated like this hockey.
GB: Well I will end this saying hockey has had a resurgence in the Chicago area only because the team started winning championships and had a media blasting. if the Chicago fire had all this publicity and winning championships you would see these same people proclaim love of soccer. Most of your BlackHawk fans are not hockey fans nor fans of the team. They are fans of being part of winners.
CF: They are idiots wearing the image of Black hawk. We hope soon to put an end to this display of ethnic stereotyping much like the days of the Washington Redskins are numbered.
GB: God I hop[e so. I can see a day that instead of just wearing the jersey you will see Blackhawk fans dress up in full gear,helmets, and skates just like the players down on the ice. Blackhawk and sports fans are just so neurotic weirdos.
