Atlantic Monthly exposes Vince McMahon and WWE racism

Dave Berkson
Atlantic Monthly had a good article about the lack of WWE champions being black in the past and just the treatment of black wrestlers in WWE history. Vincent K Mcmahon and his wrestling monopoly rarely produces black stars and only one chapmpion was partially black being the half-Samoan movie star named Dwayne Johnson. The Rock of course was politically connected through family lines in wrestling history and a connection with the Mcmahon ffamily.WWE decides tocreate a clearly stereotypical persona for all  its black wrestlers and they rarely achieve stardom. Case in point, the excellent former WCW champion Booker T who held the title five times but when the WCW failed and was bought out by the WWE he rarely got shots for wrestling for the world title and didnt make the same impact because of Vince Mcmahons refusal to have a black champion wear the belt in this fake sport. During Booker Ts feud with Hunter hearst hemsley racial remarks were common and through its history racially tinged remarks have been used throughout many aspects of its programming including announcing such as many times Jesse Ventura slured minorities and then had audacity to say it was entertainment. Vince mcmahon and his organization have often ridiculed black wrestlers with these weird ethnic savage characters such as the drugged out voodoo master papa Shango and kamala the Ugandan giant. This was a great exposure on the part of the Atlantic Monthly magazine and I urge all wrestling fans to check this article out and the long held biases Mr mcMahon has held in avoiding black stars and champions.
