Contra was one of those must have video games of the eighties and news of its return is both exciting and disappointing. it appears this game will only be available to Chinese on a mobile platform nut any attempt to bring back this great action video game and franchise should be seen as a positive move.
This game was the echelon of what a running and shooting game should of been and this games popularity and difficulty of stage mastery made it a popular must have in a video-game library of many teens and young adults in the mid eighties. I think I calculated I played 1045 playing hours of this game until finally reaching the end that was about as elusive and frustrating as any game could ever become. the original is really the only game worth playing all these hours as the many spin offs had no originality in it and I am sure it would not be pejorative to say this latest version will suffer from this as well. Konami owns the rights of this game and their decision to only 
remain in China is something to do with copyright infringements. That Contra game to be released over there is going to be bullshit man and nothing like the original side screen action that was too fucking cool.
