Today I have the unfortunate news to report that in late September Beat 148 was shot dead off the North Woods in Calgary. Conversationalists are mourning the loss of this lovable and cubable Center Grizzly Bear. This collared and track Bear had wandered form British Colombia to Alberta where bear hunting is illegal and the death of the infamous loved Bear 148 has spurned calls to outlaw bear trophy hunting in British Colombia. The province of Alberta has had laws against any Grizzly bear shooting since 2006 but this didn't stop the brutal murder of Bear 148 and this latest tragedy in Canada to fall upon another Center Bear is shameful and disheartening.
Conservationists had to relocate Bear 148 a few times as it was aging it was losing its fear of man and its brain was turning into popcorn. Unfortunately Bear 148, not to be confused with bear 149 or 122, wandered into the wrong backyard of a mad hunter who couldn't give a rats ass if Grizzly bears are a protected species and shot the Bear as it got very close. The unnamed killer of bear 148 also didn't apparently give a bats ass that the Center bear had a collar and was obviously well-known in the animal protection racket of Canada forestry management. grizzlies are becoming more and more rare in Canad'as Western province and the importance of preserving their habitat is crucial to maintaining part they play in the ecosystem.
