The three yea rold 1265 Oklahoma Avenue garage sale quietly closed it operatiosn this weekend after three years of operations and continual ling revenue decline was blamed on on-likne retialers who cut into the sales and profits of tis once prosperous garage sale. Owner Marty Mclure said he jsut couldn't compete and it was a hassle to find items and he decided to close his garage sale that neighbors had loved going to every weekend for new and interesting discoveries. Mr McClure though said this is a sign of the times and garage sales throughout the country have been closing their doors and ending up shop along wiht traditional big box retailers as people flock to on-line stores for purchases according to those who would profit handsomely from this technocracy and constant theme to push.
The demise of this garage sale and others along Cleveland and Oklahoma Avenue will hit the community hard as there is already a dearth of shopping opportunities for people in the area filled with liquor stores, bars, and gas stations. Mr Mclure will miss his regulars who often came by and purchases odd items such as his used pots and pans and children shes and clothing he would steal form a donation bin nearby. Many residents in fact recognized their old clothing and prior purchases through this mans guile of taken donations while shopping at this mans garage sale through the years and complained to the city of Milwaukee about this to no avail.
