One never knows what to expect going to these out of the way breweries all over the country and the inconsistency of never being open Prairie Krafts brewery of them being opened or not has been a constant thorny issue. Take in point Vernon Hillary just inexplicably shut down as I sought a cold one. It took some time and much difficulty finding this place in the middle of an industrial park and when I approached it I knew something was up and there was a problem. Prairie Kraft was in a industrial Park as many of Chicago's growing list of independent breweries are and as these office jobs disappear in suburbia one envisions more brew pubs and bars finding their place in odd spots such as this spot and one wonders if location and lack of permit to operate booze production was a problem for Prairie Kraft brewery. Calls made to this company have gone unanswered even though their phone answering machine is stillm indicating this brewery is open for business.
I looked forward to seeing Nirash the bartender and see if this was a rare Indian-owned brew pub form the looks of what I saw on Google Maps and the bartender in the pictures as one does not usually see an Indian dot head bartender.
One does not usually see an Indian dot head in a bar and in all of my time bartering years at the Itasca Inn I have never seen a Indian walk into the bar behind Tree Guys Pizzeria in Irving Park Road. Prairie Kraft has been shut down by the village for some unknown reason and one wonders if Narish was spitting khat chew while working at the bar.I never got to taste any of this homemade brew or see what this place was like and am still trying to find out what happened and why this place was suddenly shut down
