Pod caster Justin Mohr has joined the chorus speaking about taxi drivers and their suicide tenancies in recent weeks as news spread that a popular young taxi driver killed himself in New York City finding the job prospects disappearing thanks to the likes of Uber and Lyft. Justin Mohr also spoke of the scam of rising values and medallion now being destroyed as it will no longer be a retirement option for the taxi drivers who for years through their monopoly could restrict competition and use government to limit the number of drivers to validate a medallion for taxi drivers to have the same value of a home Mohr says that these drivers looked at these medallions as small business and investment and because government regulated the number of drivers taxi drivers took up debt to pay the bankers and other loaners.
Justin Mohr then went on a rant about how people think their job is not going to change are out of touch and as are taxi drivers struggling like this driver Bobby Wheeler. Bobby wanted a acting career and didn't even want to be forced to drive for a living but according to Justin Mohr innovators will ensure all driving jobs and workers relying on it will struggle in the future. Justin Mohr says no one should ever have a career especially those limited in skills such as driving other people.
The suicides are a result of these workers being stubborn not to up their game or in Bobby's case his skill as an actor. Justin Mohr went on to praise Steve Jobs as someone who didn't want their customers to be happy and always looked for potential ways to make economic changes and other services to destroy the old. Mohr also praised the Uber industry for changing the staus quo and letting the customer kn ow exactly what the price of the drive will be instead of the old system where taxi drivers rigged rides and slowed down making turns to get more jingle. No doubt there will be more suicides as the taxi drivers know longer have this option to raise rates and cheat the customer.
