A dispute over Pizza leads to a bar shooting in Wheaton

    Baxter Lomax

In Wheaton, Illinois  a bar shooting at a place that I have gone to several times called Rosie O' Reilly's was inexplicably caused by Pizza as CBS Channel 2 news reports. Michael Freund  has been arrested as he and two other men were going to this rural yet suburban remote bar in unincorporated Wheaton Township in Wheaton ,Illinois. The two men had ordered Chicago-style pizza and we're eating it when they complained that it tasted like crap and then offered other bar patrons the pizza to share in with the pizza. The trio tote apart the taste  of the pizza critique of this bar as awful pizza led to some arguments with other bar patrons who were regulars. The three three men we're Gringo strangers who had never

stopped at this bar before and most people don't realize but most of your mom and pop independent bars and have 80% of the same customers and they know them by name. What I have noticed in my bar reporting and  writing of books and bar culture in America is many of these small bars in rural areas that are not corporate chains are very suspicious of strangers by nature. One of the regulars stood up to the three Pizza critics and was angered by the trashing of the pizza that Rosie O' Reillys sold most likely just putting the pizza in the pizza oven from a frozen food section in the pizza section of a grocery store. Most of these small bars usually just serve pizza and wings not really known for their food and indeed most likely I would probably agree that the pizza and a place like Rosie's was probably Pizza shit one thing led to another

as the insults about the pizza Rosie O'Donnell's led to a fight outside as a three men fought a couple for the regular bar patrons and a man was killed over Pizza in Wheaton this past week. I noticed that most of the people involved in this fight appear to being their 40's and 50's and this is a bar where if everyone was ordering pizza they most likely would be ha age as a younger

people wouldbe  at a Giordano's or a Lou Malnati's . The pizza here without a doubt most likely had to be shit but these three guys do not need to criticize the bar nor the pizza that it's served and should have shut their mouth. This pizza tragedy should not have occurred and it's always weird to me as a bartender at the Itasca Inn in downtown Itasca that a bar shooting and someone could be killed over such incidents like this. The bar I work at is a bartender serves excellent pizza and they are known throughout the

community for the pizza and the pizza bar is easily recognizable in Itasca we're driving on Irving Park road. It is quite amazing how close to home this pizza murder at Rosie O'Reilly's. It remains fact  the most dangerous place remains as it always was a century and a century and a half ago is the local tavern
