It took eighty or so years for the tigers and Giants to meet in the world series last year and the wait was not worth it. This is the lowest of times for baseball as ratings and attendance are done and baseballs position as the second sport is in jeopardy. let me give you this example of last years world series. I was really excited to see two of my favorite franchises finally meet after decades of being in separate leagues never winning the pennant in the same years. however after a few games and innings I knew this was going to be a typical world series where one team shows up and the other sleeps. The Giants-Tigers fall classic will not be one memorable for the ages unless people share die hard fandom for both organizations. it was dull and boring much like the rest of the sport. It was like a typical June 14 matchup in Major League baseball. This past world series didn't seem anything special as did the world series of years prior to it. It can't compare to the time wait and drama of the NFL playoffs and this is why I am convinced the sport of baseball is doomed. I am surprised people still go but in many places summer time large gatherings are limited and urban elitism needs a place to go and be seen in certain cities. The professional sports fan is a weak human being who sacrifices his social energy and drive to profit a corporation (team). I may even be guilty myself from watching this game on TV and supporting a system where wealthy owners get their teams subsidized by the state for a place to play. It would not be a sad thing to see this game go and I think they will kill themselves financially. A tleast we got to see a Tigers and Giants world series for once.
