Minnesota Viking team nickname examined for possible change

Guy Baldwin

All the talk these days are usually about the Washington Redskins and demands for that football organization to change their name. Defenders often point out another NFL football team when defending this racist team name in Washington DC. The Minnesota Vikings portray a Scandinavian version of the Washington Redskins as a tough warrior type of people that the football team is paying homage to by applying as the team mascot and name. The Vikings through were a wicked people that raped and stole. They were not too different from Nazi's and in some atrocities and their ability to deal with selling slaves with impunity I make the argue they were maybe worse. The Vikings were one of the most brutal people in history of mankind and why a team would pay homage to these acts of cruelty and destruction is pretty shameful. No one ever questions this nickname and I think maybe it is time we do. The Viking people were not a people worth of any respect or honor and were basically one of the worst savages that wrecked havoc where ever they traveled. They killed and raped with alarming regularity and somehow people seem to forget these things centuries later. Honoring a people that were the vikings is not in the best interest of the NFL,College.high school or elementary schools around the nation. Maybe one day when the league finally drops the terrible Washington redskin nickname this team will be examined next by sports pundits and the media alike. Vikings were not noble and worthy people of any respect and if most folks truly thought of their wanton cruelty and slave trading habits I really think more would call for the elimination of this teams nicknames for sporting clubs and teams as well as the insulting Indian ones.
