Hot Doug's is closing in Chicago and the amount of news this overrated hotdog stand has received is annoying. Doug Sohn has announced it is time to make something else and perhaps making eight hundred sausages a day can drive a guy bananas and I am sure this is what likely happened to Mr Sohn. His little hot dog stand is no different to one where you can find out in the burbs or other places in the city so all these young people upset. I mean should this really be an issue. Really. Hot Dougs is nothing special in a nothing special stretch of California Avenue in Chicago. Taking a look at Doug would anyone really want to eat something this man has cooked. A gourmet chef Doug Sohn is not. If anything this place was not so great it is in an isolated area that hardly qualifies as a walkable community and is near a high school. Hot Doug's reeks of suburbia and what really is all the hype about this place I never quite understood. One day I stood the long line to try this place out and basically what I had was just a to dog. Anyone can cook a hit dog and the hot dog at Hot Doug's was no different than a hot dog at the all park. Any German restaurant will have the same if it more variety of sausage and really after a year of this place being gone people will hardly remember this lame joint. The mystery is why is this man closing it now. Is he mad at taxes or is he getting tired of the bustle of the city and wants to move to the burbs with these other aging middle weight and ageing people usually need to settle down unable to move without a machine. I am glad hot Doug's is closing and it just opens the area to more taquerias which is really what most people in this neighborhood prefer as do ore and more people with demographic change.
