Right before a televised crowd for the finals of the World Surfing competition in South Africa audiences were horrified to witness a near fatal left shark attack on popular surfer Mick Fanning. I was watching live and was really rooting for the shark against this idiot out of his element and into the sharks for the glory of television audiences to watch him on a board. Fanning was attacked and nearly pulled down by a shark on live television and the guy actually hit back at the shark and didn't appear as panicked as one would think upon seeing the dreaded fins of a killer shark. One doesn't have to be perspicacious to think that this all may have been a set up and gimmick to get surfing some publicity and if this really was a hungry shark Mr Fanning's fanny would of been shredded like beef. The World Surf League canceled the rest of the event which wasn't on the radar of any except most ardent acolyte of this joke called surfing. Mr. Fanning was ok but his real expensive surfboard was damaged and it was unclear whether he had insurance on this prized procession of his A real sport would be one that combined surfing into battle with or against sharks of the high seas and nothing can be more boring than watching surfing on corporate big-time sport network television. Thankfuly a left shark got involved with this and brought some publicity for this silly ass sport.
