Mayor Rahm Emanuel is no fool. Uber and Lyft have been good to him and apparently some Black Chicagoan alderman are green with jealousy with the dinero Rahm has made from these ride-sharing start ups. One of them is alderman Anthony Beale who wanted to have Uber drivers go through the same loopholes chauffer drivers and taxi drivers need to go such as special classes and annual inspections of vehicles. Emanuel told Beale to screw off that he is the mayor of the city and he is just a unworthy alderman to a ghetto section of Chicago.
The area where Beale presides over the gangs and Vice Lords are the real leaders of the community. Emanuel's explanation of support for Uber and Lyft was also amusing saying because taxis refused service through the years in poor communities (because they would get shot often) that he was not going to support Beale's measure of more regulation of these new companies. The mayor also praised the ride-sharing programs for giving opportunities to local people and not just the cousins and nephews of Asian and African connected families to the taxi companies. He didn't say it the Terry Blue way but this is what he meant and pretty much sums up why these tech taxi companies were created to begin with as the service supported by these taxi monopolies was both rude and negligible. Alderman Beale is a joke and he is worried about losing a Mrs. O'Leary cash cow that taxis supported local politicians through the years with their corruption and Beale's concern with the future of the industry and this money is hopefully warranted. Beale wants some loose jingle from these companies to fall into his pockets and that is something he is not going to get no matter how much he fights against them. The taxi monopolies in urban centers were crying for reform and Uber and Lyft are creations to deal with this. This shithead alderman is more favorable to the taxi industry because they create this 
illusion of value of a medallion system that is financially abusing and rewarding to those already at the top. His most recent bill, seen as more favorable to conventional taxi firms, would allow local municipalities to be more strict on ride sharing, but not more liberal."This ordinance will hurt the hard-working men and women who are driving cabs every single day," Beale said, calling them "the ambassadors of this city." .Really. They actually should thank ambassadors of other nations for their jobs driving for an easy living in my fucking country asshole. These foreigners who had taken over the taxi industry is another example of the foreign takeover of bsuiess and other ventures in this country thanks to corrupt global economic system and tis is basically what users and fans of Uber are supporting now with their time and pocketbooks.
He said upstart ride-sharing firms like Lyft, Uber and Sidecar are "making millions. They're not paying $360,000 for a [taxi] medallion. Medallions will be useless if this ordinance passes." Bullshoot. No medallion is worth that much and the reason they are is because fuck asses like Beale get some of that money into their political coffers. Too bad so sad Mr. Beale you are not the mayor. not a CEO of Uber, and not a really good politician for the people.
